Hillsboro mosque says shooting investigated as hate crime during religious Eid holiday

HILLSBORO, Ore. (KATU) — A bullet fired into the Islamic Community Center of Hillsboro’s main prayer hall on Saturday, March 21, was discovered the next day by children playing in the prayer area.

The center said a bias hate crime investigation by Hillsboro police had been opened. The Hillsboro Police Department told KATU a spokesperson is working on releasing an official statement soon, and has not yet confirmed the investigation’s status.
