PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – A hotel on Hayden Island was evacuated Tuesday afternoon as crews battled a two-alarm fire.
Portland Fire & Rescue (PF&R) crews responded to the Holiday Inn at 909 North Hayden Island Drive on the report of a fire.
Portland Fire says the call came in around 12:20 p.m. A fire investigator says crews arrived to smoke coming from the roof, then found the fire started inside a second-floor room wall where plumbing work was being done with a torch. From there, it spread upward through multiple floors into the roof/attic space.
