Portland’s oldest Greek diner hit by fire months after founder’s death

A fire broke out at Wednesday night at Tom’s Restaurant, the 51-year-old Southeast Portland diner, causing damage to the dining area but leaving the neighboring bar unscathed, Portland fire officials said.

Firefighters responded to 3871 S.E. Division St. just after 11 p.m. on reports of a commercial fire and began cutting “vertical ventilation” holes in the building’s roof, according to Portland Fire and Rescue. The fire was knocked down quickly.
