‘I think Portland has a P.R. problem’: New York Times publishes guide on life in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland may be “weird, but life is good,” according to The New York Times.

As of Wednesday morning, the “Living In” column of the daily newspaper’s real estate section included an overview of the Rose City — informing newcomers and potential residents on what to expect.

“Portland got its start as a pit stop on the Oregon Trail, the fur trade and timberlands bringing a stream of white settlers to the city in its early years,” NYT wrote. “Today’s residents eschew fur and logging in favor of protesting injustice while naked on bicycles or dressed in inflatable animal costumes. Beyond the activism and its well-known quirkiness, Portland is a city designed for leisure, with access to nature and a high quality of life.”…
