PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) – The City Club of Portland released a report petitioning the governor’s office to help in the reclamation of Ross Island in Portland’s Willamette River.
Ross Island comprises around 400 acres of the lower Willamette River. It is the source of the summer’s toxic algae blooms and home to derelict boats.
From 1926 to 2001, Ross Island Sand and Gravel mined the lagoon. In 2002, the state of Oregon established a reclamation plan meant to return the island to its natural state…
