‘Explosive failure and serious injury’: Pregnant flight attendant sues Stumptown Coffee after getting burned

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland’s own Stumptown Coffee Corp. is being sued after a flight attendant said she was burned while working on a flight in 2024. The lawsuit was filed in federal court for the Western District of Seattle on Friday.

Victoria Waldron said she was working as a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines when she sustained serious burns to her chest and other parts of her body from an onboard coffee maker that expelled hot water and coffee grounds with “explosive force.”

According to the lawsuit, Alaska Airlines had recently begun using Stumptown coffee on its flights not long before the incident occurred. Stumptown reportedly used custom packaging for the coffee it provided to be used on flights…
