Support, pushback as Portland weighs new transportation utility fee

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — More than a dozen people showed up to Thursday’s Portland City Council committee meeting for the proposed Transportation Utility Fee.

If approved, the fee would add $12 a month to homeowner’s utility bill and $8.40 for apartments, according to the city. This fee will also apply to commercial buildings as well, and building owners would be charged a 4.3% rate on their utility bill.
