12 Dead dogs found washed ashore, floating near Washington island

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Authorities are investigating after dead dogs washed up on the shore of Guemes Island in Northern Washington.

On March 26, the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office said they responded to a report that six dead canines had washed ashore on the island.

Authorities said that following the incident, they found another five dead dogs along the shore, as well as one floating in the La Conner Channel near Skagit Bay.

On April 1, officials said the dogs were submitted to a local veterinarian for forensic necropsy and DNA testing, and they are currently waiting for results…
