Six To Be Transported After Fireball Ignites Under Portland Freeway Overpass

A late-night car fire turned a stretch beneath a Portland freeway overpass into a scene of chaos Sunday, with heavy flames, thick smoke and multiple emergencies unfolding at once as fire crews rushed in.

According to an early update from the bureau, Truck 8, Engine 24 and Engine 14 were among the units that pulled up to find a fully involved vehicle burning under the bridge. Fire officials said six patients would be transported and that the vehicle itself was reported unoccupied.
