PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A suspect is now in custody and I-5 in Vancouver has been reopened after police said they responded to an assault suspect barricaded in an apartment complex.
A SWAT team had responded in the early evening near Mill Plain Road, west of I-5, in an apartment complex in Vancouver, police said. Traffic was subjected to detours while police were on the scene, with backups reported on I-5 around the same time.

“We have an assault suspect who is armed and refusing to come out of his apartment,” said Kim Kapp, a Vancouver Police Department spokesperson. “SWAT attempting to make contact and get him into custody.”
Just after 7 p.m., the Vancouver Police Department said via their X account that the suspect “had been safely takern into custody and I-5 is being reopened.”…
