58-year-old man faces charges after standoff closed I-5 South in Vancouver

VANCOUVER Wash. (KPTV) – A 58-year-old man was arrested on Saturday evening after a standoff closed southbound lanes on Interstate 5 in Vancouver for more than an hour, according to police.

Around 2:30 p.m., officers with the Vancouver Police Department were sent to The Hudson apartments on East 13th Street after a resident reported that one of their neighbors had pointed a gun at them and then returned to his apartment.

Tactical police units were sent to the area and tried to contact the suspect, later identified as Terry Meyers.

Around 5:30 p.m., authorities warned drivers that I-5 South, which was right next to the apartments, was closed while officers tried to contact Meyers.

At about 7 p.m., tactical police units took Meyers into custody, and the freeway was reopened…
