Honduran citizen faces life in prison for fentanyl-related death in Portland

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Honduran citizen living in Oregon was found guilty Monday by a federal judge of supplying a lethal dose of fentanyl to a Portland resident.

Hugo Gomez-Soto, 51, was found guilty of distribution of fentanyl resulting in death and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl by a federal jury in U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon in Portland on April 13.

“This case highlights the devastating toll of fentanyl in our community,” said Scott E. Bradford, U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon. “Fentanyl claims too many lives and leaves families heartbroken.”…
