An Oregon family came across a sight that stopped them in their tracks and broke their hearts at the same time: a mother dog tied to a tree, with her eight tiny puppies huddled tightly against her for warmth.
The devoted mama seemed to be injured, but even in pain, she kept her newborns tucked close. Every bit of her body language made it clear she had been doing everything possible to protect them.
