PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who is already in jail for an alleged carjacking earlier this year has been indicted for a murder in Northwest Portland in September 2025.
Damaree A. Baxter, 20, is accused of killing Shiloh Thanos-Young during a shooting on September 23, 2025.
Just after 8:30 p.m., Portland police said they responded to a report that someone was shot near Northwest Nicolai Street near Northwest 29th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a man — later identified as Thanos-Young — with gunshot wounds who died at the scene.

Then on the evening of April 10, 2025, Baxter was arrested for alleged carjacking, unlawful use of a weapon and reckless driving after driving speeds exceeding 115 miles per hour in North Portland, police said. A handgun, allegedly used by Baxter, was also seized by police.
Baxter has remained behind bars ever since and is currently lodged at the Multnomah County Iverness Jail.
This past week, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office presented the case to a grand jury, which indicted Baxter for charges that include first- and second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and unlawful use of a weapon…
