PORTLAND, Ore. — One person was arrested Saturday during an illegal street takeover event involving approximately 100 racers in Northeast Portland, police said.
Around 11:40 p.m., officers disrupted the group gathered near Northeast 158th Avenue and Northeast Airport Way. A short time later, racers relocated to Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Northeast Columbia Boulevard before moving to a parking lot along North Columbia Boulevard, where multiple Portland police units responded and established probable cause to arrest at least one racer in a red Corvette.
According to police, the driver of the Corvette drove off when officers attempted to make a stop. While fleeing, the driver reached speeds near 100 mph before crossing the state line into Washington, evading arrest…
