A Clackamas County sheriff’s deputy has landed in jail after Oregon City police arrested him Thursday on multiple criminal charges tied to alleged off-duty conduct, according to authorities. The deputy was identified by the sheriff’s office as Benjamin Lyman. Oregon City police booked him into the Clackamas County Jail, where he is being held for transfer to the Marion County Jail.
As reported by The Oregonian/OregonLive, Lyman was taken into custody following an investigation into his alleged conduct while off duty. Prosecutors have charged him with criminal mistreatment, strangulation, harassment and interfering with making a report.
In a statement, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Lyman was booked into the county jail and said he has been placed on paid administrative release, as required under county policy while both criminal and internal investigations are underway. Public records show Lyman earned about $135,805 in 2025, according to GovSalaries.
