More come forward with allegations against former BCA teacher, coach

BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Five additional reports have been filed against a former Barrington Christian Academy teacher and coach who was previously charged for allegedly grooming a student, 12 News has learned.

Sean Cassidy, 53, was taken into custody June 1, accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with a student under the age of 16. In court earlier this month, he pleaded not guilty to charges of contributing to the delinquency of a child and procuring alcoholic beverages for underage persons.

The investigation began at the end of May, when the student’s parents discovered online communications between their 14-year-old daughter and Cassidy.

During an interview with police, the victim said she grew close to and trusted Cassidy while he served as her coach on multiple athletic teams at BCA and as her private trainer. According to court documents obtained by Target 12, she told investigators that Cassidy would gift her gear and clothing “which became progressively shorter in length,” and “lingerie-type underwear.”…
