PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — With temperatures expected to soar this week, Providence residents have some new and improved ways to cool off.
Public pools and water parks opened citywide on Monday. Mayor Brett Smiley and other elected officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at Joslin Park in Olneyville, which is one of four parks that recently underwent renovations.
Smiley said the city’s $750,000 investment in the park was the result of years of input from the community. The upgrades included a new splash pad, toddler play area, outdoor fitness equipment and futsal field.
