Rhode Island diver uses sonar to search Seekonk River after deadly crash

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WJAR) — A sonar expert who responded to the scene of a Sunday car plunge that killed three generations of a family says he could have located the vehicle within minutes if authorities had permitted him to assist.

Bill McIntosh, a Rhode Island resident who specializes in sonar technology, watched from the riverbank as first responders searched the murky waters of the Seekonk River for nearly a day before finally recovering the vehicle. Inside were the bodies of a mother, her daughter, and her granddaughter.

State police had no comment regarding the recovery effort.

McIntosh, who utilizes his sonar skills in his free time as part of the YouTube channel “Adventures with Purpose,” said he rushed to the Pawtucket scene Sunday evening to offer his services…
