One more scorching day on Saturday, storms possible Saturday night in Southern New England

Southern New Englanders need to get through one more scorching day on Saturday before relief arrives towards the end of the weekend.

Expect plenty of sunshine on Saturday to boost temperatures back into the mid-90s in the afternoon. It will feel like it’s above 100 again for the heat index (feels-like temperature). Saturday will be the final day in this stretch of extreme heat.

The daytime hours on Saturday are expected to be dry. Any showers or storms should hold off until late in the overnight.

Latest indications show the storms arriving after midnight Saturday night into the early morning hours of Sunday, which bodes well for dry weather during fireworks on Saturday evening.

Sunday should be a nice day with temperatures in the mid-80s on Sunday afternoon, not nearly as hot. Expect Sunday to be a mainly dry day, though a passing shower or storm can’t be completely ruled out.

Rain chances increase significantly on Monday as a slow-moving area of low pressure approaches Southern New England. Odds for a soaking rain from Monday through Tuesday are increasing significantly.
