Downpour at times could lead to flooding across southern New England in the coming days.
According to the National Weather Service, Boston, flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible which has led to a Flood Watch being issued from 2:00 a.m. Monday through Tuesday afternoon for Rhode Island, Connecticut and portions of southeastern Massachusetts, including Fall River, New Bedford, and surrounding areas.
Periods of heavy rain are expected at times starting late Sunday night. Heavy rain will be most like Monday into Tuesday afternoon. Widespread rainfall amounts of 1-3 inches are expected into Tuesday. However, narrow bands of torrential rainfall may result in localized amounts of 4-6 inches of rain inside 6 hours.
