A memorial to a 7-year-old girl who was shot to death in Providence caught fire by accident.
Officials said candles started the fire.
Ny’Eil Kelley Pires was was sitting in her car on Florence Street in Providence with her brother and her father when she was shot in August 2024. She died three days later at Hasbro Children’s. She wasn’t the intended target.
