PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Anglers and boaters are asked to avoid three bodies of water in Rhode Island as they’re treated for invasive aquatic plants this week.
The R.I. Department of Environmental Management said the treatment is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, at Carolina Trout Pond in Richmond, Shippee Sawmill Pond in Foster and Meshanticut Lake in Cranston.
Pet owners should also keep their pets from drinking the water there for at least three days after the treatment, according to the DEM.

Invasive aquatic plants are a recurring problem in Rhode Island and the treatment is intensive and expensive.
