Storm Team 10 is tracking the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms Tuesday evening in Southern New England.
Tuesday starts off dry, with increasing clouds in the morning. Showers and thunderstorms develop after 3 p.m., with the most likely time to see storms from 6 p.m. to midnight.
Those storms could be feisty, with downpours and localized street flooding the highest risk, followed by frequent lightning and potential gusty winds.
As a “triple point” crosses Southern New England on Tuesday evening, there could be enough low-level spin for a weak, brief tornado. That’s a low risk, but not zero risk.
The highest risk for severe storms on Tuesday will be found to our west across New York state, but there will still be a risk for strong storms across Connecticut and Rhode Island, potentially even into portions of Southeastern Massachusetts.
There will be a break in the storm chances for Wednesday morning, with sunshine to start the day, before another chance for showers and thunderstorms pops up in the afternoon hours. Once again, there is a low-end risk for a few strong storms on Wednesday.

Unlike Tuesday, however, there won’t be nearly as much moisture available for storms on Wednesday, so the coverage of storms will be more hit or miss, and the flood threat will be lower.
