SEEKONK (WBSM) — A Falmouth man was arrested in Seekonk and faces 14 charges after he allegedly rear-ended a car with his motorcycle Thursday, fled from an ambulance, stole an officer’s firearm during a struggle, and fired off a round.
Seekonk Police said that on August 13 at about 12:26 p.m., units were dispatched to the area of 178 Central Avenue (Route 152) for a reported motor vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
Officers arrived and determined that the motorcycle had rear-ended a sedan that was stopped in the roadway. “Although there were no initial reports of obvious injuries, Seekonk Fire/Rescue was dispatched due to the nature of the crash,” police said.

Seekonk Crash Response Escalates Into Foot Pursuit
While the motorcyclist was being evaluated in the back of an ambulance, officers determined that he had given them false information. He then allegedly fled on foot from the ambulance, and officers chased him. He was located on nearby Edwards Avenue in the area of Foch Avenue.
Physical Altercation and Weapon Struggle
Police said that as officers attempted to take him into custody, an altercation ensued and there was a struggle in the roadway. They said the suspect – later identified as Nathaniel A. Cronin, 19, of Falmouth – managed to grab an officer’s firearm and partially remove it from its holster. Cronin allegedly fired off one round; no one was struck, and officers were able to gain control of Cronin and take him into custody.
Extensive Charges Filed Against Suspect
Cronin was arrested and charged with assault and battery attempting to disarm a police officer, two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, attempted assault and battery by discharging a firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, trespassing, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct, vandalizing property, resisting arrest, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, giving a false name to a police officer, attaching plates, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, and driving an uninsured motor vehicle…
