COVENTRY, R.I. (WPRI) — A Coventry woman has been charged with animal cruelty after her severely matted dog was found wandering around town last week, according to police.
The Coventry Police Department initially asked for the public’s assistance identifying the owner of a male Shih-Tzu who was found near MacArthur Boulevard.
Police said the dog was severely underweight with extensive matting throughout his coat.
“The condition of the dog’s coat was so severe that the matted hair had effectively tied his rear legs together,” the police department explained in a social media post Friday. “He was unable to walk more than a few steps without falling over.”…
