Music Complex RI Opens North Providence Location

The Music Complex RI has opened a North Providence location at 1854 Smith St., giving the family-run company three Rhode Island sites. The business sells and repairs instruments, offers lessons and rents rehearsal space. The new shop held its grand opening Monday, Sept. 14, according to The Valley Breeze.

What the North Providence shop offers

The Smith Street store is open Monday through Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It sells new and used instruments, rents equipment and provides repairs. Monthly instrument rentals range from $20 to $45, with brands including Fender, Marshall, Gretsch, Yamaha, Ampeg, Peavey, Korg and Mackie, according to The Valley Breeze.

The company offers rehearsal and recording space at its Pawtucket site and rents rooms by the hour in Smithfield. Full-band rooms with amplification and public-address systems cost $30 an hour, while drum rooms cost $20. The business also buys used gear and rents sound systems, according to The Valley Breeze.

How the site fits North Providence’s commercial shift

The new location is part of a broader change in North Providence’s economic profile. According to the North Providence Hazard Mitigation Plan, the town has shifted from a manufacturing and industrial base toward a commercial economy, with much new development focused on retail and commercial businesses.

Rudy D’Agostino founded the company in Pawtucket in 1994. After the business opened its Smithfield store and lesson site, the Pawtucket location became a dedicated recording space in 2013.
