Federal immigration agents detained multiple people in and around New Bedford, Massachusetts, on Monday.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations personnel conducted arrests in the city and nearby Fall River. A community group director estimated at least eight people were taken into custody. Several of those detained were described as working in local seafood processing facilities.
One arrest occurred mid-morning on MacArthur Drive near waterfront industrial sites. Agents wearing tactical gear marked “POLICE” and “ERO” handcuffed a man and placed him in a vehicle. Separate observations noted a group of vehicles and personnel in the Dartmouth Mall parking lot that departed toward New Bedford around 11:30 a.m. Additional activity was reported on Winsor Street and in an Ashley Boulevard lot…
