PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A nor’easter is expected to bring strong wind and widespread rain to our area Friday night through Saturday, with lingering effects on Sunday.
As a result, some local events have been postponed or canceled.

Friday
Ed Sheeran concerts
The start time for the shows at Gillette Stadium on Friday and Saturday has been moved to 8 p.m. The parking lots open at 4:30 p.m. followed by the gates at 6:30 p.m. More information »

WaterFire
The lighting on Saturday, Sept. 26, has been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24. Organizers said it will be a full lighting with vendors, onshore programming and community activations from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. More information »
FARA 5K
The 17th Annual Race for Matt and Grace at Rhode Island College is moving inside the recreation center. The speaking program, hosted by 12 News’ Mike Montecalvo and Tony Petrarca, begins at 9 a.m. and the walk is at 10 a.m. More information »
Newport Polo
Saturday’s Turkish Airlines Finals and Sunday’s All Charity Day have both been rescheduled for Saturday, Oct. 3. Newport Polo said all tickets are valid for the new date and the regular gameday schedule will be followed, with the grounds opening at noon and the match beginning at 4 p.m. More information »

East Providence paper shredding event
This free event for city residents at Weaver Library has been postponed until Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to noon. More information »
Sunday
Barrington Arts Festival
The event outside Town Hall on Sunday, Sept. 27, has been canceled. The town said all artist booth fees will be automatically refunded in full within 10 business days. More information »
Red Sox vs. Cubs
The Red Sox announced they’ll have a doubleheader Friday at Fenway Park instead of a game on Sunday. The start times are 1:05 p.m. and 6:05 p.m.
As of right now, Saturday’s 7:05 p.m. game will be played as scheduled. More information »…
