BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – We’ll be watching the track of the powerful Nor’easter over the weekend, but it still looks like the worst of it will spare our region. For today, northern parts of the region will be mostly cloudy. Southern sections will have showers, including the afternoon and evening. Highs will be in the 60s, though a few low 70s are possible near the Canadian border. As far as wind is concerned, this afternoon and tonight will have the highest gusts of any day. Expect a north wind of 10 to 20 mph with gusts to 25 mph. The western slopes of the Southern Green Mountains, however, may have gusts to 45 mph. The coast along Massachusetts and Rhode Island could have gusts to 60 mph along with high surf and possible coastal flooding.
The Nor’easter will be a little closer to us on Sunday but will also weaken. More widespread showers are expected, including northern sections. It will still be breezy, but less so than Saturday. There will be a north breeze of 10 to 15 mph with a few higher gusts. Highs will be in the low to mid-60s. Monday will be even less breezy, but showers are likely, so it will be a wet, gloomy day. We do, however, need the rain, especially for the Northeast Kingdom which is still under a moderate drought.
Some showers will linger into Tuesday morning before the remnants of the Nor’easter finally move away. The afternoon will be dry but mostly cloudy with highs in the upper 50s to low 60s. Unlike this past week, overnight lows will be milder, mainly in the upper 40s to mid-50s…
