US Conference of Mayors pulls 2027 meeting out of Providence, moves it to Atlanta

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – The U.S. Conference of Mayors is pulling its 2027 annual meeting out of Providence, costing the city a four-day event that was expected to draw hundreds of people and generate about $2 million in economic activity next June.

The event will relocate to Atlanta, according to conference officials.

The meeting, which was to be held at the R.I. Convention Center and scheduled for June 24-27, was expected to draw nearly 200 mayors from across the country along with their staffs, filling area hotels and restaurants…
