SPRINGFIELD — Gov. Maura Healey has urged federal regulators to quickly review a project that would increase capacity of an existing pipeline carrying natural gas into the region.
The 1,131-mile Algonquin Gas Transmission Pipeline starts in New Jersey, cuts diagonally up through Connecticut and splits in Massachusetts, carrying on to Boston and the South Coast.
The pipeline’s operator, Enbridge, said the upgrades would help resolve bottlenecks bringing natural gas to the region facing some of the highest energy costs in the nation. It estimated it would finish the improvements in 2028…
