Woonsocket, R.I. — The Woonsocket City Council on Monday gave first passage to an amended ordinance regulating automated license plate readers, gave final passage to a renewed homeless shelter lease, and ratified two union contracts, according to the Woonsocket City Council’s published meeting recording.
License plate reader ordinance advances
Ordinance 26047, governing the city’s use of automated license plate recognition technology, passed first passage 7 to 0 after an amendment that also passed 7 to 0. The city’s cameras are supplied by Flock Safety.
