Swansea crash victim’s brother: ‘It rocked us all to the soul’

SWANSEA, Mass. (WPRI) — Tristan Tucker is fighting for his life.

The 20-year-old has been hospitalized since his car was hit head-on by a man driving the wrong way on Route 118 last week. That driver, 53-year-old Timothy Couturier, has since been charged with operating under the influence of liquor.

Josh and Isaac Tucker, Tristan’s brothers, tells 12 News that, even though he has since opened his eyes and can now breathe on his own, he has a long road to recovery ahead of him.

“We didn’t know that first day whether or not we were going to lose him,” Josh said. “It rocked us all to the soul.”

Tristan, who works at Five Guys, had been on the clock moments before the crash and had left to run a quick errand, according to his manager Zachary Bazinet.

“Tristan went on break and hadn’t come back,’” Bazinet recalled. “It had already been 45 minutes.”

Bazinet said it was unlike Tristan to not return from his break. He knew something was wrong when he called Tristan and he didn’t pick up.
