Victim in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle

WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — A man was stuck by a vehicle on Nausauket Road in Warwick.

According to reports from Warwick Police, they received a call at around 5:53 p.m. that a pedestrian was barely conscious on the ground.

When police arrived, the 45-year-old man was unconscious with traumatic injuries to his head. He was transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

According to a police officer on the scene, the man that was hit is in critical condition.

Police say a 56-year old was operating the vehicle that hit the victim. The victim was crossing the street in an area with no cross walk.

The victims head impacted the windshield of the vehicle resulting in the major trauma.

Speed and alcohol are not expected to be factors in this incident.

This is an active investigation.
