Firefighters rescue cat from Tiverton fire

TIVERTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A family pet was saved after a fire broke out Thursday at a mobile home in Tiverton.

The town’s fire department said it happened just before midnight at Dadson Mobile Estates on Bulgarmarsh Road. Crews were able to quickly put out the flames, but then found the cat unresponsive under a bed.

Tiverton Fire Chief William Bailey said Lt. Michael Amaral saved the cat by bringing it outside and giving it oxygen.

No injuries were reported, but the American Red Cross said it’s providing assistance to the family that was affected by the fire.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
