SCITUATE, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after someone was attacked by a coyote while walking their dog in Scituate Thursday afternoon, according to police.
Police said the victim was walking their dog down Peeptoad Road around 4:30 p.m. when the coyote lunged at them.

The victim drove themselves to the hospital to be treated for their injuries, according to police.
It’s unclear at this time whether the coyote was acting suspiciously prior to the attack or if the dog was injured.
