RAYNHAM – The display cases at the Cake Diva on Broadway in Raynham are filled with assorted cookies, cupcakes, muffins, tarts, pastries, cakes and more. Pastry chef and co-owner Alain El Khoury said since December, when he took over the shop, business has been booming.
“Everybody’s been coming here, taking pictures, selling us out. It’s been crazy,” said El Khoury, who was in the middle of replenishing his half empty display cases with new pastries when The Gazette stopped by.
The Cake Diva bakery shop, located at 995 Broadway, has garnered renewed attention since the beginning of the year when the new ownership was announced on social media.
El Khoury said he has increased the variety of products since taking over the shop, adding more cupcake flavors, European-style pastries and more.
Neither he nor his wife/fellow co-owner, Maya, had any previous connection to The Cake Diva prior to taking over at the end of last year. The two were looking to run their own business, had read about the offer from the previous owner to sell the The Cake Diva, and decided to purchase the space.
