Woman charged in Attleboro shooting, botched robbery pleads guilty

ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — The woman accused of shooting an Attleboro gas station clerk during a botched robbery nearly five years ago will spend at least five years behind bars, according to Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn III.

Ashley Weaver, 33, pleaded guilty last week to armed assault with intent to rob, assault and battery, and carrying an illegal firearm.

Weaver is accused of ambushing the clerk at the Mobil gas station on Newport Avenue as he was taking out the trash back in May 2019.

Quinn said Weaver, who was wearing a monkey mask, pointed a gun at him and demanded money.

Weaver reportedly shot the clerk once in the stomach after he put her in a headlock. She took off running as the clerk rushed inside and hit the store’s panic button.

Quinn said the clerk was brought to Rhode Island Hospital where he underwent surgery and spent several days recovering.
