Highland Street Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing the needs and concerns of children and families, has once again organized “August Adventures.” This annual initiative offers free family-friendly activities every day throughout the month of August, giving families the chance to explore and enjoy a wide range of cultural and recreational experiences across Massachusetts.
“August Adventures 2024 provides access and opportunities to new and old partners highlighting the geographical and cultural diversity of the Massachusetts arts and culture community,” explains Highland Street Foundation. This initiative aims to make arts and culture accessible to all, regardless of financial circumstances.
Part of the August Adventures lineup is Buttonwood Park Zoo, located in New Bedford, which thanks to the Highland Street Foundation, is free to visit for one day only on Thursday, August 22nd from 9 am until 4 pm. This day of free admission offers a perfect opportunity for families to enjoy a cost-friendly outing just before the school year begins. Visitors can explore the zoo’s exhibits while learning about various species. “We are excited to collaborate with one of the premier organizations in the South Coast and excited to end the summer with some of our animal friends,” explains Highland Street Foundation.
