CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A student from Scituate and one from Cranston were both arrested within the last seven days due to unrelated threatening statements they posted online.
Scituate police said they arrested a middle school student last week after an online argument between two boys led to one making a serious threat on Thursday night. One student has been charged with cyberstalking as a minor.
Lana Messina, whose 6-year-old daughter goes to school in Scituate, said she was concerned about her daughter’s safety as soon as she got the notification on Friday.
“I was even worried about sending [my daughter to school] on the following Monday, because it’s the day without the threats that are even more scary,” she said. “It should have been sent out right when it was happening. I think if it’s a 0.00001% chance, that’s too much.”
Just this past Wednesday, Cranston police shared they had also arrested a student who made an unrelated threat against Cranston High School East on the social media app Snapchat.
