Pawtucket man, 21, killed by car on I-95

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation is underway after a man was hit and killed by a vehicle on I-95 North in Providence.

According to Rhode Island State Police, the 21-year-old Pawtucket man was a passenger in a vehicle that had pulled over on the highway around 11:30 p.m. Saturday. He got out and began walking across the highway when he was hit by an oncoming car.

Police said the driver who hit him stayed at the scene, along with the driver of the vehicle he had been in.

Two lanes of I-95 were closed for a time, but have since reopened.

Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
