ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — Police are searching for a man who was caught on camera robbing an Attleboro liquor store Monday afternoon.
Officers were called to ACE Liquors on Washington Street around 2:30 p.m. to investigate reports of an unarmed robbery.
The suspect, described by police as a white man in his mid-20s, crouched down behind the checkout counter while the clerk was distracted and moving inventory. Police said he then got into the cash drawer and took an undisclosed amount of money.
The clerk noticed the man behind the counter after he took the money, according to police, and tried to stop him. The two struggled briefly before police said the suspect ran out of the store toward the intersection of Washington and May streets.
The clerk was treated for minor injuries which resulted from the struggle with the suspect, according to the police.
The suspect did not threaten the clerk with a weapon, police said, and there is no immediate threat to the public.
