Crews battle brush fire in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, R.I. (WPRI) — Multiple agencies were called to Cumberland Beagle Club property after a brush fire broke out Thursday morning.

Deputy Fire Chief Jeffrey McCabe said they were alerted to the fire near the area of Nate Whipple Highway and Old Staples Road around 11 a.m.

According to the chief, the fire is around five to eight acres and contained at this time. He said crews will continue wetting the area over the next few hours to prevent another flare-up.
