Battery packs recalled due to overheating hazard

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Nearly 14,000 battery packs are being recalled due to a fire hazard, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) .

The lithium-ion battery inside the Quad Lock MAG Battery Packs can overheat while in use. The wireless portable chargers were sold on Amazon.com and through various third-party sellers.

Quad Lock has received 39 reports of the battery packs overheating, including three reports of the power banks catching fire and 36 reports of them smoking, melting, cracking or swelling.

Anyone who purchased one of the recalled battery packs is urged to stop using it and to contact Quad Lock for instructions on how to receive a full refund.
