Electric space heaters recalled due to fire, burn risks

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — More than 500,000 electric space heaters are being recalled due to fire and burn hazards, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) .

The GoveeLife and Govee Smart Electric Space Heaters, which were sold on Amazon.com and in the TikTok Shop, can overheat and catch fire while in use.

Testing also determined that the smart space heaters do not comply with the voluntary industry safety standard, according to the CPSC, meaning their wireless control features can be dangerous.

There have been 113 reports of the electric space heaters overheating, including seven fires and one minor burn injury.

The space heater recall involves model numbers H7130 (including the H7130101 variation), H7131, H7132, H7133, H7134 and H7135.

Anyone who purchased one of the recalled space heaters is urged to stop using it, cut the power cord and contact GoveeLife for a refund.
