RICHMOND, R.I. (WPRI) — The Maddie Potts Foundation held a book launch in Richmond on Saturday afternoon.

Stephanie Potts — Maddie’s mom — and other parents came together for the release of “Lives Unfinished: Parents’ Reflections on Child Loss,” which shares the stories and experiences of 10 parents who experienced losing their child.

Maddie was on the soccer field during her senior year at Chariho High School when she suddenly died from an aneurysm in 2017.

The foundation — named after Maddie — was created two months later.

In 2022, the “Maddie Potts Field House” was opened up at Chariho with the goal of honoring her legacy.

Stephanie Potts explained why sharing Maddie’s story is a big part in the grieving process.

“We were just broken and shattered and talking to all these parents and getting to know them better through this process — their communities really did the same thing,” she told 12 News. “And I’m hopeful that this book will obviously help other parents, but I also am hopeful that it will help other communities.”
