15-year-old charged for bringing BB gun to school

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A 15-year-old student is facing a felony charge after bringing a weapon to Cranston High School West, according to police.

Police said a few students notified a school resource officer (SRO) Monday morning that another student may have a gun.

The SRO found the student and took away a replica Glock that was later determined to be a BB gun.

“Under RIGL the weapon is considered a firearm because it is able to fire a metal projectile,” police noted.

Police said there was no mention of threats made by the student.
