TAUNTON — Dermody Cleaners has launched its 32nd Annual Coats for Kids Drive, according to a press release.
The local dry cleaning and laundry business will clean and donate coats to those in need through the Saint Vincent de Paul Society’s Center on Washington Street in Taunton.
Since the drive’s inception, over 50,000 coats have been collected, cleaned and distributed to children in the community.
Terry Dermody, speaking on behalf of Dermody Cleaners, shared his thoughts on this year’s drive.
“I’m inspired by a quote from Abraham Lincoln: ‘The best way to predict your future is to create it.’ By providing coats to those in need, we’re helping them envision a brighter future. Our community’s children represent the future, and warmth is a basic human right,” Dermody said.
Where to drop off coats
Throughout January, area residents are invited to donate gently worn children’s winter coats. Coats can be dropped off at any Dermody Cleaners location: 34 Cohannet St. in downtown Taunton, 648 County St. (Hart’s Four Corners), 330 Bedford St. in Lakeville (Sava’s Plaza) and the Press Club on Route 6 in Somerset.
