Crews knock down fire in North Smithfield

NORTH SMITHFIELD, R.I. (WPRI) — Firefighters in North Smithfield knocked down a fire that broke out at a home on Sunday morning.

The fire took place around 6:30 a.m. on Greenville Road.

Fire Chief David Chartier said nobody was in the home at the time and it was for sale. Video by a 12 News crew showed the house’s garage sustained heavy damage.

An investigation is underway into what caused the fire.
